New Acland delivers on Community Investment
28 August 2013
The New Hope Group is bolstering its commitment to community development on the Darling Downs with the launch of the New Acland Community Investment Fund.
The New Acland Community Reference Group (CRG) assisted in the establishment of the Community Investment Fund and will play a key role in its administration.
CRG members, who represent a broad cross section of community interests in the area surrounding the New Acland Coal Mine, will assess applications and make recommendations to New Hope Group on appropriate community initiatives for support.
New Hope Group Chief Operating Officer Bruce Denney said the company was already a substantial supporter of local not-for-profit organisations through its generous Community Sponsorship and Donation Program, and this new fund will see the support extended even further.
“This new fund will concentrate on community investment and development projects that will provide significant and measurable benefit to a broad range of people and also develop long-term, sustainable outcomes for the community in the area surrounding the New Acland Coal Mine.
“Not-for-profit community groups and organisations within the Toowoomba Regional Council area will be eligible for grants of $10,000 or more.
“New Hope Group is proud to partner with, and provide opportunities for, community groups in the region and to support the communities in which we live and work,” Mr Denney said.
Mr Denney said the fund is now open for eligible organisations to submit an application for consideration.
“New Hope invites community groups to apply for a grant to support their initiatives. We hope to receive applications for a range of innovative projects and ideas that will benefit our community,” he said.
Applications for the first funding round may be submitted until 30 September 2013.
