Jeebropilly Mine’s empowering health and wellness program was the clear winner at this year’s Ipswich Park2Park inspiring over 60 employees to cross the finish line on Sunday.
The recently implemented program encourages employees to self-manage their health and provides support including skin checks, stress management tools and healthy food advice.
Jeebropilly Mine’s Health and Training Advisor Brendan Ryan said the amount of employees at Park2Park was evidence of the phenomenal buy-in from the workforce.
“This program has taken off because its organised by our employees, for our employees,” he said.
“It’s sparked a really fun rivalry on site and that’s why events like Park2Park and our onsite weight loss challenge have seen such high participation.”
“Our mine site is nothing without our employees and that’s why we’ve invested so much in this program and in the physical and mental health of our workforce.”
“Working closely with allied health specialists LiveWell Australia has helped us explore the long-term benefits of healthy choices and deliver some really great services.”
“Since implementing the program in September last year we’ve set up weekly physiotherapy clinics, stretching classes and toolbox talks on healthy topics like sleep and nutrition.”
“Our health and safety committee is already looking for our next fun event and rumour has it a Movember competition could be just around the corner.”
New Hope Group has rolled out similar health and wellness programs at their New Acland operation and at their Corporate office in Brookwater.
